As a Muslim, I’m sick of people asking me how I feel about 9/11. What do you want me to say, seriously? Do you want me to say, “It was a great plan, mwahahaha!” before I fly off on a magic carpet?
I was born and raised in this country and was just as shocked as everyone else to learn there were people on this earth so vile as to commit such a horrific attack - or to even think about doing it.
But I didn’t do it. Neither did 99.999999999 percent of the roughly 1.5 billion people in the world who also call themselves Muslims. So why should I or any other Muslim apologize for what happened? Nickleback is planning on releasing another album. Should I ask white people to apologize for that?"
1. Your most treasured passport stamp?
I know I should say the one from New York, but I think that the Paris one beats the NY one. Paris has always been one of those cities that I knew I would fall in love with as soon as I’d go there and so it was. It’s mesmerising and it has such a beautiful aura that is simply incredible. Can’t wait to go back.
2. Can you recite your passport # from memory if asked? (Y/N, don’t give out your info online please!)
3. Preferred method of travel; planes, trains or automobiles?
It depends, but I would have to go with a plane because it’s easy and quick, while on the second place I will have to put the train because there is something about trains that I love. I would love to travel through Europe by a train - to just be able to hop in and hop off wherever and whenever I want to.
4. Top 3 travel items?
A passport, an iPad and my credit card(s).
5. Hostel or hotel?
I love hotels, I really do, but from my experience sometimes hostel can be even better than a hotel. London, for example, has some pretty amazing hostels that are quite cheap and so better looking and really comfortable compared to the hotels of the same price.
6. Are you a repeat visitor or do you explore new places?
London is that one place I always come back to, but I love exploring new places and currently thinking about going to Denmark and Sweden, if I don’t travel to the middle Asia before.
7. Do you read up on your destination (culture, history, safety) or do you wing it?
I’m usually one of those people who just read how to get from the airport to the city, but other than that I mostly wing it. Oh, and I read how to get to my hotel/hostel as well and before I pick my accommodation, I always check the safety of that area because that’s the most important thing… other than that, I just go with the flow. And I walk around my destination a lot - use public transportation only when it’s really necessary. It’s the best way to really explore and get to know the city.
8. Favourite travel website?
Booking.com? I don’t know to be honest.
9. Where would you recommend a friend to visit? Name the city & why.
10, You’re leaving tomorrow, money is no option, where are you going?
